Here's what you'll do day-to-day
Building the platform that the product teams deploy onto. The internal
customers are other engineers, which means the bar for usability is higher
than it would be for an external product.
- Own and improve the deployment pipeline that every product team uses
- Run the container platform, and make the paved road genuinely easier than going around it
- Improve observability so teams can debug their own services
- Reduce the amount of work that only one person knows how to do
Peak trading is a real constraint here. There are periods where change is
frozen and everything you did beforehand is what you have got.
Requirements
Platform work is as much about what other engineers will adopt as what is
technically correct.
- Production experience running Kubernetes or a similar container platform
- Strong CI/CD background, including pipelines you designed rather than inherited
- Infrastructure as code, and the discipline to keep it current
- Observability tooling, whichever stack
- Able to say no to a request and explain why
- Australian work rights, Melbourne based, hybrid
