Here's what you'll do day-to-day
Hands-on AWS engineering inside a managed services team looking after a mixed
portfolio of customer environments. The work is a split between building new
and keeping existing environments healthy, and no two customers are set up the
same way.
- Build and maintain customer environments in AWS, mostly through infrastructure as code
- Take escalations from the service desk that need real engineering rather than a runbook
- Improve the parts that keep paging people, instead of just acknowledging them
- Work directly with customers on design decisions, not through three layers of account management
You will see more variety here in six months than in two years on a single
internal platform. That cuts both ways, and it suits people who like context
switching more than people who want to go deep on one estate.
Requirements
Depth in AWS matters more than breadth across every service. We would rather
see someone who has run something properly than someone who has touched
everything once.
- Solid production experience with AWS, beyond the console
- Infrastructure as code in Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK
- Comfortable with Linux, networking fundamentals and CI/CD
- Scripting in Python, Bash or similar
- Able to talk to a customer without a project manager in the room
- Australian work rights, Melbourne based
